Aragom Overview

Aragom is a fast paced space war game, reminiscent of the old TRS-80 Star Trek game. The galaxy is being overrun by Aragom and they have already destroy all other defences. Commanding the USS Constellation, you must destroy all the Aragom before they can destroy you, all the bases, or time runs out.

The full version of Aragom includes four difficulty levels, four time limits and larger galaxies. Buy Aragom at the App Store today!

You must navigate the universe and destroy all the Aragom before they destroy all your bases, and before time runs out and Aragom reinforcements arrive. Your ship has six systems: Shields, Torpedoes, Lasers, Impulse, Warp and Scanners. If all six systems fail it is time to abandon ship! Sadly all the Torpedoes in the universe were used up in the first wave of Aragom, so you'll need to rely on your lasers.

Your systems will repair slowly, but you can dock with a base to repair them much faster. You can also control which system has priority for repairs in your Damage Control display.

You can see and navigate around the galaxy in the long range view. Your bases will all report the condition in their sector, and your ship can see for two sectors in any direction (unless your scanners have failed!).

Exterminate the Aragom; Protect your bases; Don’t get yourself killed!

Your ship has six systems:

You can see the current damage report by touching the bottom right corner of the screen. When any system drops below 20% it fails. If all systems fail it is time to abandon ship!

Your systems will repair themselves slowly once you stop being shot at, and will repair much more quickly if you dock with a base. You can touch a system in the Damage Control screen to select which system to repair most quickly.

You can enable Self Destruct by touching each system in sequence from top to bottom (Shields to Scanners). Touch anywhere to cancel the self destruct before the count down completes.

The top right corner shows the very long range scan, and you can toggle between short range and long range scan by touching the top right corner of the screen.

The short range scan shows the current quadrant, including the Constellation, stars, and any base or Aragom present. Touch on a base to dock with it. Touch on an Aragom to start firing your lasers at it (you will continue to fire at it). Lasers cannot fire through objects. Unfortunately, there are no Torpedos left in the universe. Touch anywhere else to move there.

The long range scan shows the nearby quadrants, how many Aragom are present, and whether a base (B) or the Constellation (C) is present. Touch a quadrant to warp there. Touch and drag to scroll the display. Your long range scanners can see two quadrants in any directions and each base reports the situation in their quadrant.

Remember to protect your bases while exterminating the Aragom menace - if all bases are destroyed you lose!

Aragom FAQ

How do I see the current damage?

You can view the Damage Control display by touching the bottom right corner of the screen (where your systems are listed). The damage control view displays the health of each system and you can touch any system to make it the priority for repairs.

How do I see the long range view of the galaxy?

You can always see a Very Long Range (VLR) view of the entire galaxy in the top right corner (unless our scanners have failed). You can see the more detailed Long Range View of the galaxy by touching the top right corner of the screen (the VLR). The Long Range (LR) view displays the galaxy and all you know about it. Each quadrant you can see (those within two qaudrants of you or containing a base) will display the number Aragom present, and whether the quadrant contains a base (B) or yhe USS Constellation (C). Quadrants with Aragom are highlighted in red. Quadrants with bases under attack are highlighted in bright red. Touch and drag to scroll the galaxy display. Touch any quadrant to warp there (assuming your Warp Engines are functional).

How do I warp?

Display the Long Range View by touching the top right corner (Very Long Range view) and then touch any quadrant to warp there.

How do I Self Destruct?

You can engage Self Destruct by displaying the damage control view and then touching the systems from top (Shields) to bottom (Scanners) in order. Touch anywhere to cancel the self destruct before the count down completes.

What do the Shields do?

The shields are your first line of defence, they absorb Aragom attacks until they are depleted. After that your main systems start taking damage and will eventually fail - when all systems fail your ship is lost.

What do the Lasers do?

The lasers are your primary offensive weapon. Touch an Aragonm ship and your Warfare department will continue to fire on the ship. Lasers are line-of-sight only, and cannot fire through other objects. Lasers are unaffected by distance. The Aragom use a similar weapon system, although with some technical differences. If this system fails, you are in big trouble.

Where can I find Torpedoes?

Sadly, all the torpedoes in the universe were used in the first wave of Aragom attacks, which also destroyed all other alliance space ships - leaving you to fight alone with only lasers. Good luck - you’ll need it!

What do the Impulse Engines do?

The Impulse Engines allow you to move about within a quadrant, to get a better shot at the Aragom, to hide behind stars or Aragom (so only one can shoot at you) or to dock with a base. If this system fails, you should consider rapidly abandoning the quadrant using your warp engines.

What do the Warp Engines do?

The Warp Engines allow you to move about the galaxy, to find more Aragom to exterminate, or to visit a base for rapid repair or defence. If this system fails, you are stuck in the current quadrant until it is repaired - I hope there is a base here too!

What do the Scanners do?

The Scanners show you what is in the local quadrant in the short range view, and what is in the nearby quadrants. If the scanners fail, you lose both views, although you will still receive information from bases as to their status. Life is very difficult without scanners.

What do the Bases do?

Bases allow rapid repair of your ship if you dock with them (touch the base to dock with it). You need to preserve at least one base or the Aragom have won. Bases will alert you if they are under attack, and report the number of Aragom in their quadrant.

How do I pause the game?

You can pause the game by locking the phone (press the power button). The game will resume when you unlock the phone.

How do I view Help in the game?

To keep the illusion of immersion, there is no way to access help (or anything else) while in the game. You can quit the application by pressing the Home button, then relaunch it and do not resume the game, then view the help by touching the Help button. Then quit the application again and relaunch it and resume the game (the saved game will not be deleted until you start a new game).

How do I send feedback?

Send feedback to support@stairways.com.
